Pep band is one of the best things I've been able to attend to. It's a night of fun and and a night of laughter and cheering for our favorite team. As a junior the songs come easy to you and you know the songs like the back of your hand. There are 3 top favorites that everyone loves and enjoys to play because it brings up the vibe and it really gets everyone in the Pep spirit
1. Living on a Prayer by Paul Murtha
This song is a classic for Newark Band. Some hate it other love it, I personally love it. I think this song bring up the overall vibe in the Pep Band and the crowd. The original song is sang by Bon Jovi, this is song was arranged by Paul Murtha and she did a fairly good job. My favorite part of the song is the trumpets, when they blast the loud and well know part of the song "OHHHHHH We're half way there
Livin' on a prayerTake my hand and we'll make it I swear, livin' on a prayer" The only thing we need to work on a little more is the crosendoing part of it. Other then that I think overall we are very good at it.

2. Crazy Train arranged by Paul Murtha
Crazy train is another classic, for Newark Pep Band. In 2015 season, we could not get it together with this song. Every time we had to practice it we hated it and would say ugghh, and we'd complain constantly. However when 2016 came up (thanks to Micheal K. and Ms Chase) we were able to get our act together. Each section finally learned how to count, and play the correct notes, we've found a new love for it. It's one of the bands favorites, as well as the overall crowds. It a great song to play because everyone knows it and everyone can move along to the beat of it.

3. Seven Nations Army
Seven Nations Army is by far one of my personal favorites. One, because this song is a fairly simple song, it sucks that it has super small notes on sheet, but the notes are fairly simple to play and after a repetitive amount of time you just automatically know certain parts of the song and how to play it. Second reason why it's my favorite, is because its very peppy. In a way a livens up the crowd, or in my opinion it does.

My commitment to Pep Band is committed did you ask me. I usually go to all the game in Pep band or I try to because I really like going to Pep Band and playing, because one I get free food, I can get a free pass to watch the game and I get to hang with my fav teacher and talk to her and give her some poop. I think I deserve a sold A- maybe a B+. I think I've earned this because I actually play, Im usually on time, and I help out a little with cleaning.
Pep band is a very important element in Newark High School Band and Basketball. It livens up the entire gym and puts off a vibe of hope and cheerfulness and just a overall peppy vibe. I think that Pep Band is a good think to have during half time because the cheerleaders half time show is like 2 min, chuck u duck is about 1 min long. There is a good 15 min left of weird silence and boringness. People usually listen to our music so at least theirs some music to move the head with. Also old people love the music we play because the music was the thing during that time.
One specific song that I've improved in is Star Spangled Banner. I used to not play the part where the French Horns have the solo up until my Junior Year. I was very scared that I'd screw it up and this old judgy lady would be like dear lord what is that god awful sound and then look me dead and the eyes and call me dumb. But not I have no problem in playing that part.
If I could add a song it would be theme song of Batman cause that seems pretty lit.
